Smoother Gameplay
Speed up your game and get faster frame rates when the action gets intense.

We define “smoother” as faster framerates in your favorite games.

A game dedicates a portion of time during each frame to look for network data.  It’ll keep looking for a while before either getting the data it needs or giving up and going on to the next task.  When this happens repeatedly, it causes lag.
When Windows handles the networking for your game, it isn’t tuned to offer game packets as fast as our Game Detect technology, so the game can lag even if it’s running perfectly.

When a Killer Xeno Pro detects game traffic, it hands game data off immediately to the game.  The game can then move on to other, more important tasks like looking for movement, trigger pulls or spell casts from you.  This is what gives Killer Xeno Pro owners the smoother, more responsive gameplay that gives them more control in-game.

Game Detect™ Technology automatically detects game traffic and prioritizes it over other applications to speed up your online games.

Our exclusive Game Detect technology identifies, prioritizes and identifies game traffic and gets it straight to your game the instant it arrives. It does this by processing all game networking in hardware, a series of tasks that Windows usually manages in software.

Game data arrives at your PC inside a set of frames that tell your PC what it is, where it’s going, what program gets the data and a few other things. It’s easier to imagine these as a message wrapped in a set of envelopes.  One envelope is the Ethernet layer – a frame designed to move traffic around on your local network.  Once that’s opened, the Internet Protocol envelope is opened to reveal what kind of message the actual message is – is it TCP/IP, UDP, ICMP or something else.  Then, in the case of most games, there’s a UDP layer that’s unwrapped from the game data.  Finally, the data that’s inside all those packages is handed off to the game.  If it’s a grenade, it’s gone through a LOT of steps to get to you.  And then when it explodes, all that wrapping and rewrapping has to happen to send out the “Ya got me!” or “Missed!” message.

Our Game Detect technology accelerates online gaming for you in a few ways:

  1. It identifies game data before it’s even unwrapped, right at the wire
  2. It  does all this wrapping and unwrapping in hardware, where an ordinary NIC relies on Windows to do this processing in software.

The benefit is this – game data gets in and out of your PC on a much faster path than Windows can handle, giving you better frame rates, less latency, and less lag caused by Windows…

Intelligent Bandwidth Control
Keeps your game running smoothly and lets you allocate bandwidth to other applications like voice chat, web browsing and downloads.  Go ahead, do more while you game.

A broadband connection is almost overkill for today’s games.  Your game, at most, is occupying 128kb of your 10, 15 or even 100Mbit connection.  Why, then, does your game start to lag if you try to do anything else through that connection?  Because your game is given no priority.

With a standard NIC, game data and other network data get the same priority.  So if you’re playing one game and downloading a demo for the other, the game data gets the same priority as the download data.  It has to wait in the same line and get the same treatment as the download, or the voice data, or the regular “chatter” that your Windows PC conducts on the Internet.  (If you think that your game is the only traffic on your network, download Bigfoot Networks Dashboard, located here, to see what’s really going on between your PC and network.)

With Intelligent Bandwidth Control, your game data, as small as it might be, gets automatic priority over everything else that happens on your network, right out of the gate.  Your game commands don’t have to wait for Windows to chat or your download packets to process before they get in and out of your game as quickly as possible.

This lets you do more while you game, without lag, while downloading a demo, an update or even a full game.

Gaming Firewall runs on the card and not on your CPU, so you are protected without slowing down your game.  Don’t worry, we’ve got your back.

Why run a software firewall on Windows when you can run a dedicated firewall on your Gaming Network Card?  With the Killer Xeno Pro’s Gaming Firewall, the Linux-based iptables firewall software combines with the power of Xeno’s Network Processing Unit to combine all the power of a software-based firewall with the performance of dedicated networking hardware.

Plug and Play automatically works with online games to help improve performance without mods, patches or special settings.  Tweak less, play more.

So much of today’s dedicated gaming hardware requires a mod, or a patch, or an update from the game publisher to work properly.  Since the Killer Xeno Pro is a network card at heart, we’re compatible with all online games and all of your other networking needs.  You plug it in, install the drivers, and it just works.  Fewer steps than the Hokey Pokey – we checked.

Optimized Voice Chat lets you chat with friends during the most intense game play without slowing down your game.  Victory never sounded sweeter.

If you’re a dedicated online gamer, you use voice chat to communicate with your teammates and taunt your enemies.  But with a standard NIC, your voice chat and your game data get the same priority and the same treatment from Windows.  That means that your spell cast might be waiting for your raid partner to say “Heal, please!” or that your weapon reload might be waiting behind your enemy saying “Ha, ha!” in the manner of Nelson Muntz.

Optimized Voice Chat lets you use any voice chat program you like – Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, even Skype – and manage its priority through our Intelligent Bandwidth Control.  This way, your game data gets a separate “channel” from your voice data, preventing the two applications from stepping on each other, and giving you smoother gameplay and smoother voice operation.
