Flexible Network Architecture

Each Killer™ NIC is also a dedicated Linux computer. This "computer inside a computer" enables your Killer to be more than just a gaming network card. Killer’s FNApps (Flexible Network Applications) are Linux compiled programs that can be anything from BitTorrent clients to File Servers to VOIP communications devices. Offloading applications from the PC to the Killer™ NIC is another way to allow the CPU to stay focused on making sure the game and your PC run at peak performance.

The following FNApps are pre-release-versions, that is they currently have limited functionality and support. You are free to use them. Please provide feedback, ask questions and report problems through the online Forums.

FNA Torrent
FNTorrent uses your Killer NPU to download bit torrents and store them on a USB drive attached directly to your gaming NIC. You can even download while you game, and since the downloaded files are stored on a USB drive attached directly to the back of the Killer™ NIC, the files never touch your system. You can download gigabytes of files with zero impact to your game.

FNA Firewall
FNFirewall uses the popular and effective Open Source iptables firewall found in Linux and provides you with a Windows(tm)-based front end. This firewall runs completely inside the Killer NPU, giving you added security by blocking malicious attacks before they even hit your PC's bus. Advanced iptables users can write their own scripts or use it directly using the FNA SDK.

FNA Voice
We have teamed up with DiamondWare to develop a hardware-accelerated voice solution for gaming that fully offloads all client-side processing to the Killer NIC. The combination of DiamondWare’s 3D positional voice technology accelerated with Killer hardware provides higher-quality multiplayer voice while gaming with zero impact to your game’s performance.

FNA FTP
Copy files to and from your Killer NIC's USB attached HD or internal RAM to the host computer.

FNA Telnet
Access the Killer operating system; all linux commands supported.

Build Your Own FNApps to Run on Killer
Develop your own Linux applications to run on the Killer™ NIC with the help of our Linux SDK. It includes an open-source compiler, a copy of our custom Linux distribution, and a small set of rules that'll help anyone write or port Linux applications to the Killer NPU. Writing an FNApp is as easy as recompiling your source for Killer's flavor of Linux and pressing go. Additionally, these tools can enable your FNApp to seamlessly communicate with a Windows control application that runs on your Windows desktop.
